Observers say Pope Benedict XVI frequently worn out

By NICOLE WINFIELD Associated Press December 17, 2011 8:26PM

VATICAN CITY — Pope Benedict XVI seems worn out.

People who have spent time with him recently say they found him weaker than they’d ever seen him, seemingly too tired to engage with what they were saying.
He no longer meets individually with visiting bishops.
A few weeks ago he started using a moving platform to spare him the long walk down St. Peter’s Basilica.

Benedict turns 85 in the new year, so a slowdown is only natural.
Expected. And given his age and continued rigorous work schedule, it’s remarkable he does as much as he does and is in such good health overall: Just this past week he confirmed he would travel to Mexico and Cuba next spring.

But a decline has been noted as Benedict prepares for next weekend’s grueling Christmas celebrations, which kick off two weeks of intense public appearances.
And that raises questions about the future of the papacy given that Benedict himself has said popes should resign if they can’t do the job.

Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi has said no medical condition prompted the decision to use the moving platform in St. Peter’s, and that it’s merely designed to spare the pontiff the fatigue of the 100-meter walk to and from the main altar.

And Benedict rallied during his three-day trip to Benin in west Africa last month, braving temperatures of 90 degrees and high humidity to deliver a strong message about the future of the Catholic Church in Africa.

Wiping sweat from his brow, he kissed babies who were handed up to him, delivered a tough speech on the need for Africa’s political leaders to clean up their act, and visited one of the continent’s most important seminaries.

Back at home, however, it seems the daily grind of being pope — the audiences with visiting heads of state, the weekly public catechism lessons, the sessions with visiting bishops — has taken its toll.

A spark is gone.
He doesn’t elaborate off-the-cuff much anymore, and some days he just seems wiped out.

Take for example his recent visit to Assisi, where he traveled by train with dozens of religious leaders from around the world for a daylong peace pilgrimage. For anyone participating it was a tough, long day; for the aging pope it was even more so.

“Indeed I was struck by what appeared to me as the decline in Benedict’s strength and health over the last half year,” said Rabbi David Rosen, who had a place of honor next to the pope at the Assisi event as head of interfaith relations at the American Jewish Committee.

“He looks thinner and weaker ... which made the effort he put into the Assisi shindig with the extraordinary degree of personal attention to the attendees (especially the next day in Rome) all the more remarkable,” Rosen said in an email.

That Benedict is tired would be a perfectly normal diagnosis for an 84-year-old, even someone with no known health ailments and a still-agile mind.
He has acknowledged having suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in 1991 that temporarily affected his vision.
And his older brother, who has a pacemaker for an irregular heartbeat, has expressed concern about Benedict’s own heart.

Benedictus XVI Is The Penultimate Pope

According To St Malachi...!!!

Malachi Got Jon Paul II Right,

Very Benign Looking But A Bit Of A Fabian...
(Wolf In Sheeps Clothing)

Outwardly, John Paul II supports human rights, while inwardly withholding them from bishops, theologians and especially women,'
He is particularly appalled by the contradictory nature of Virgin Mary worship while forbidding women from practising birth control and barring them from
ordination.

Jean Paul II is a conservative pope who reversed the liberalising trends in the Roman Catholic church in the 1960s, citing examples such as the Pope ordering German bishops in 1999 to close counselling centres that issued certificates to women that could later be used to get an abortion.

Looks Very Evil, But In Reality Is A Cowardly Woss....!!!

Seewald: "Were you in the Hitler Youth?"

Ratzinger: "At first we weren't, but when the compulsory Hitler Youth was introduced in 1941, my brother was obliged to join. I was still too young, but later, as a seminarian, I was registered in the HY.

Oscar A Rodrigeus MARDAIGRA,
B. Dec 29-i942.

Known as the Latin American Pope,
Or Peter the strong.

The South American catholics want him to be the next pope!!!

According to St Malachy,
Who left behind a prophetic list of all the Roman Popes.
He describes the 266th,
And final pope of the Roman Catholic Church:
As Petrus Romanus (Peter The Roman)
When the city of 7 hills(Rome) will be destroyed.

Petrus Romanus can also be translated as :
The Latin Pope.

If Cardinal Ratzinger, hadn't become the Pope,
Rodrigeuz certanly would have been!!!

Greetings in the Resurrected Christ!

Post  Edward Palamar on Mon Dec 26, 2011 4:30 pm

I've been responding to occurrences of "Peter the Roman" on the net for a good two years now. I've had varied responses at forums, blogs, and the like.

The resurgence of interest in the St. Malachy prophecy of names, from which "Peter the Roman" is derived, is experiencing a second wind, the first being at the invention of the printing press. The current computing age can be seen as an extension of that invention in the often associated pursuit of desktop publishing.

Though the Vatican has a website, and there are many sites with allusions to Catholicism, Divinity, and the like, to my knowledge, I hold something of a groundbreaking (sodlike) distinction to be the only Vicar in the St. Malachy list to have had such a personal communication outreach via the internet.

The worst of what I have found is on record : http://risen-from-the-dead.forumotion.com/t3-testimony-against-apostates

And managing the upkeep of that single topic is in accordance with Catholic dogma essential to preaching, teaching, and understanding the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Cardinal Peter Turkson

When Pope Benedict XVI kicks off his four-day visit to the UK with a greeting from the Queen at Holyrood House in Edinburgh on 16 September, he will be accompanied by a gaggle of cardinals known as "Princes of the Church".
And, if high-level leaks are correct, among them will be a handsome, modest and very intelligent man who is a potential contender to be the next pontiff.
If that were to happen Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson would be the first African pope for 1,500 years.

When Benedict XVI visits Britain next month, Ghana's Cardinal Peter Turkson will be with him.
Hugh O'Shaughnessy charts the rise of a quiet contender

On 24 October 2009 he was nominated President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Created and proclaimed Cardinal by John Paul II in the Consistory of 21 October 2003, of the Title of S. Liborio (St. Liborius).

Member of:

Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments; for the Evangelization of Peoples;
Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity;
Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church;
Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses;
XII Ordinary Council of the Secretariat General of the Synod of Bishops.

The Pope will die within a year: Vatican 'assassination fears' revealed

The Pope will die within the next 12 months, a senior Vatican figure has reportedly claimed amid fears of an assassination plot.

The sensational prediction was allegedly made by Cardinal Paolo Romeo, the archbishop of Palermo in Sicily, on a recent visit to China.

Cardinal Romeo reportedly made the startling prediction of the Pope's death during a trip to China in November 2011.

He seemed so sure of the fact that the people he spoke with, including Italian businessmen and Chinese representatives of the Catholic Church, were convinced that he was talking about an assassination attempt.

They were so alarmed by his remarks that they reported them back to the Vatican.

The extraordinary comments were written up in a top-secret report, dated Dec 30, 2011, and delivered to the Pope by a senior cardinal, Dario Castrillon Hoyos, a Colombian, in January.

The Vatican has reportedly opened an investigation into the claims.

The report was written in German, apparently to limit the number of people within the Vatican who would understand it if it was inadvertently leaked.

It warns of a "Mordkomplott" – death plot – against Benedict.

The story was broken on Friday by an Italian daily, Il Fatto Quotidiano, with the headline "Plot against the Pope – he will die within 12 months".

The newspaper, which has a reputation for scoops, published a page from the confidential report.

"During his talks in China, Cardinal Romeo predicted the death of Benedict XVI within 12 months.
His remarks were expressed with such certainty and resolution that the people he was speaking to thought, with a sense of alarm, that an attack on the Pope's life was being planned," the paper reported.

Cardinal Romeo also named Benedict's XVI likely successor as Cardinal Angelo Scola, the archbishop of Milan – meaning the papacy would return to an Italian after the German Benedict and his Polish predecessor, John Paul II.

Cardinal Romeo said Benedict viewed Cardinal Scola as his ideal successor because they had similar personalities and theological outlooks.

Cardinal Scola was previously the Patriarch of Venice, but was promoted to the archbishopric of Milan by Benedict in June last year.
