European Son - Beck

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:55 am

Another favourite, there was a young punk band, that I was going to lead, back at school,we fell apart, before we got started, they wanted Yobbo British Punk and I wanted Avante-Garde,Art-Rock,with a more New Yorkian flavour, even started to write expanded alternative lyrics for this song as a cover, wish it had happened, cause we would've set a trend,it was still a full two years, before there was a resurgent popularity for the Velvets. When once people wanted to kill me,so they did'nt have to listen to White Light/White Heat, for the 50,000th time...that old verve LP,is so worn, crackles, pops, jumps,I loved it.

(Reed, Cale, Morrison, Tucker)

You killed your European son
You spit on those under twenty-one
But now your blue car's gone
You better say so long
Hey hey, bye bye bye

You made your wallpapers green
You want to make love to the scene
Your European son is gone
You'd better say so long
Your clown's bid you goodbye

David Bowie - Breaking Glass

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:58 am

From his 1977 album Low

Lyrics:

Baby, I've been, breaking glass in your room again
Listen

Don't look at the carpet, I drew something awful on it
See

You're such a wonderful person
But you got problems oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll never touch you

David Bowie - Boys Keep Swinging

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:03 pm

always, had the hots for men with make-up...it's an Egyptian thing, the royal court, the first glam rockers, even hat Tars and wild sex orgies, not much has changed,I'm really telling you the truth here, how it was and still is...

1.2.3.4
Heaven loves ya
The clouds part for ya
Nothing stands in your way
When you're a boy

Clothes always fit ya
Life is a pop of the cherry
When you're a boy

When you're a boy
You can wear a uniform
When you're a boy
Other boys check you out
You get a girl
To say your favorite things
When you're a boy

Boys
Boys
Boys keep swinging
Boys always work it out

Uncage the colours
Unfurl the flag
Luck just kissed you hello
When you're a boy

They'll never clone ya
You're always first on the line
When you're a boy

When you're a boy
You can buy a home of your own
When you're a boy
Learn to drive and everything
You'll get your share
When you're a boy

Boys
Boys
Boys keep swinging
Boys always work it out

Look Back In Anger - David Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:08 pm

There still is a war in heaven...as above,so below, the imagery here,I can really identify,it's not fluffy white clouds, but dimensions opening up,clashing into the next,Pandoras Box was opened millions of years ago,it's about to happen here, welcome to the soul front battlefield, you'll burn for ever in the maelstrom...

"You know who I am," he said
The speaker was an angel
He coughed and shook his crumpled wings
Closed his eyes and moved his lips
"It's time we should be going"

(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, driven by the night
Till you come
(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, see it in my eyes
Till you come

No one seemed to hear him
So he leafed through a magazine
And, yawning, rubbed the sleep away
Very sane he seemed to me

(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, driven by the night
Till you come
(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, feel it in my voice
Till you come

(Waiting so long, ahhh...)
(Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so) (Waiting so long, I've been waiting so, waiting so)
(Waiting so long, ahhh...)

David Bowie _ It's No Game

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:19 pm

One of the sexiest sounding songs ever...but it's not about it...

From his 1980 album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)

Lyrics:

1
2
1-2-2

Shiruetto ya kage ga kakumei o miteiru
Mo tengoku no giyu no kaidan wa nai2

Silhouettes and shadows
watch the revolution
No more free steps to heaven
It's no game

Ore genjitsu kara shime dasare
Nani ga okkote irunoka wakara nai
Doko ni kyokun wa arunoka
Hitobito wa yubi o orareteiru
Konna dokusaisha ni iyashime rareru nowa kanashii

I am bored from the event
I really don't understand the situation
And it's no game

Documentaries on refugees
Couples 'gainst the target
You throw a rock against the road
And it breaks into pieces
Draw the blinds on yesterday,
and it's all so much scarier
Put a bullet in my brain,
and it makes all the papers 2

Nammin no kiroku eiga
Hyoteki o se ni shita koibito tachi
Michi ni ishi o nage reba
Kona gona ni kudake
Kino ni huta o sureba
Kyohu wa masu
Ore no atama ni tama o buchi kome ba
Shinbun wa kaki tateru

So where's the moral
when people have their fingers broken2
To be insulted by these fascists
it's so degrading
And it's no game

Shut up! Shutu

Scarey Monsters and Super Creeps - Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:26 pm

Oh,the forum Gremlin got sick of fucking with the bandwidth...see,I don't cry like a fellow Aussie twat,I just spoil the fun and know it's pettiness...so childish, funny, that's where it's heart was lost, violence as a child, poor gremlin, plays I'm not violent, but tries to get others to fight...learnt nothing obviously, just another sad victim, like everybody else...

For Forum Gremlin...

From his 1980 album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)

Lyrics:

She had an horror of rooms
she was tired
you can't hide beat
When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home

She could've been a killer
if she didn't walk the way she do,
and she do
She opened strange doors
that we'd never close again

She began to wail jealousies scream
Waiting at the light know what I mean

[CHORUS (twice)]
Scary monsters, super creeps
Keep me running, running scared

She asked me to stay
and I stole her room
She asked for my love
and I gave her a dangerous mind
Now she's stupid in the street
and she can't socialise
Well I love the little girl
and I'll love her till the day she dies

She wails
Jimmy's guitar sound
jealousies scream
Waiting at the light know what I mean

[CHORUS (twice)]

[CHORUS (twice)]

Run, Run, Run [ad lib]

Scream Like A Baby - Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:29 pm

From his 1980 album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)

Lyrics:

Well I wouldn't buy no merchandise
And I wouldn't go to war
And I mixed with other colours
But the nurse doesn't care
And I hide under blankets
Or did I run away
I really can't remember
Last time I saw the light of day

But I remember Sam 'cause he was like me

Screaming like a baby
Sam was a gun
And I never knew his last name
And we never had no fun

Well they came down hard on the faggots
And they came down hard on the street
They came down harder on Sam
And they all knew he was beat
He was thrown into the wagon
Blindfolded, chains, and they stomped on us
And took away our clothes and things
And pumped us full of strange drugs
And oh I saw Sam falling
Spitting in their eyes
But now I lay me down to sleep
And now I close my eyes

Now I'm learning to be a part of soc-society
Soc socie s

Scream like a baby
Sam was a gun
And I never knew his last name
And we never had no fun

No athletic program, no discipline, no book
He just sat in the backseat swearing he'd seek revenge
But he jumped into the furnace
Singing old songs we loved

Scream like a baby
Sam was a gun
And I never knew his last name
And we never had no fun
Scream like a baby
Sam was a gun
And I never knew his last name
And we never had no fun

Be My Wife - David Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:32 pm

Now,getting back to what I like, instead of the games the lonely play...

Sometimes you get so lonely
Sometimes you get nowhere
I've lived all over the world
I've left every place

Please be mine
Share my life
Stay with me
Be my wife

Sometimes you get so lonely
Sometimes you get nowhere
I've lived all over the world
I've left every place

Please be mine
Share my life
Stay with me
Be my wife

Sometimes you get so lonely

The Width Of A Circle - David Bowie.

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:37 pm

Shame,I could'nt get the best version,Bowie At The Beeb...this'll do.

he Width Of A Circle

In the corner of the morning in the past
I would sit and blame the master first and last
All the roads were straight and narrow
And the prayers were small and yellow
And the rumour spread that I was aging fast
Then I ran across a monster who was sleeping
By a tree
And I looked and frowned and the monster was me

Well, I said hello and I said hello
And I asked "Why not?" and I replied "I don't know"
So we asked a simple black bird, who was happy as can be
And he laughed insane and quipped "KAHLIL GIBRAN"
And I cried for all the others till the day was nearly through
For I realized that God's a young man too

Ho

Oh I said "So long" and I waved "Bye-bye"
And I smashed my soul and traded my mind
Got laid by a young bordello
Who was vaguely half asleep
For which my reputation swept back home in drag
And the moral of this magic spell
Negotiates my hide
When God did take my logic for a ride
(Riding along)

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oooooh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ooooh

He swallowed his pride and puckered his lips
And showed me the leather belt round his hips
My knees were shaking my cheeks aflame
He said "You'll never go down to the Gods again"
(Turn around, go back!)

He struck the ground a cavern appeared
And I smelt the burning pit of fear
We crashed a thousand yards below
I said "Do it again, do it again"
(Turn around, go back!)

His nebulous body swayed above
His tongue swollen with devil's love
The snake and I, a venom high
I said "Do it again, do it again"
(Turn around, go back!)

Breathe, breathe, breathe deeply
And I was seething, breathing deeply
Spitting sentry, horned and tailed
Waiting for you

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

We Are The Dead - Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:40 pm

Something kind of hit me today
I looked at you and wondered if you saw things my way
People will hold us to blame
It hit me today, it hit me today

We're taking it hard all the time
Why don't we pass it by?
Just reply, you've changed your mind
We're fighting with the eyes of the blind
Taking it hard, taking it hard

Yet now
We feel that we are paper, choking on you nightly
They tell me "Son, we want you, be elusive, but don't walk far"
Always breaking in the new boys, deceive your next of kin
For you're dancing where the dogs decay, defecating ecstasy
You're just an ally of the leecher
Locator for the virgin King, but I love you in your fuck-me pumps
And your nimble dress that trails
Oh, dress yourself, my urchin one, for I hear them on the rails
Because of all we've seen, because of all we've said
We are the dead

One thing kind of touched me today
I looked at you and counted all the times we had laid
Pressing our love through the night
Knowing it's right, knowing it's right

Now I'm hoping someone will care
Living on the breath of a hope to be shared
Trusting on the sons of our love
That someone will care, someone will care

But now
We're today's scrambled creatures, locked in tomorrow's double feature
Heaven's on the pillow, its silence competes with hell
It's a twenty-four hour service, guaranteed to make you tell
And the streets are full of press men
Bent on getting hung and buried
And the legendary curtains are drawn 'round Baby Bankrupt
Who sucks you while you're sleeping
It's the theater of financiers
Count them, fifteen 'round a table
White and dressed to kill

Oh caress yourself, my juicy
For my hands have all but withered
Oh dress yourself my urchin one, for I hear them on the stairs
Because of all we've seen, because of all we've said
We are the dead
We are the dead
We are the dead

Big Brother - Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:43 pm

"Big Brother" is a song written by David Bowie in 1973 and intended for his never-produced musical based on George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four. In 1974 it was released on the album Diamond Dogs. It segued into the final track on the record, "Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family".

Lyrically, the song reflects the ending of Nineteen Eighty-Four, where Winston Smith's brainwashing is complete, and he loves Big Brother. This was described by Bowie biographer David Buckley as "a frightening paean to the Super God",while Nicholas Pegg considered that Bowie was showing how "the glamour of dictatorships is balanced with the banality".

The opening trumpet line, played on a Chamberlin, has been compared to Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain. The melody in the chorus was echoed in Bowie's own "Shining Star (Makin' My Love)" from Never Let Me Down (1987).

"Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family" is a song written by David Bowie in 1974 ending his Diamond Dogs album.

The song ends with the endlessly repeating sound of "bruh-bruh-bruh...", the first syllable of the word 'Brother' from "(Big) Brother" (the title and refrain of the preceding track) as though the record had broken. Bowie's initial intention had been for the machine to repeat the whole of the word 'Brother', but accidentally discovered that just the first syllable sounded much better.

The Goth-band Skeletal Family took their name from this song.

This song is David Bowie's interpretation of George Orwell's "two minute hate" from his novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four". Its mesmerizing chanting represents the mind-numbing influence that the two minutes has over the brainwashed citizens of Oceania, 1984's totalitarian government.

Don't talk of dust and roses
Or should we powder our noses?
Don't live for last year's capers
Give me steel, give me steel, give me pulses unreal

He'll build a glass asylum
With just a hint of mayhem
He'll build a better whirlpool
We'll be living from sin, then we can really begin

Please saviour, save your shores
Hear me, I'm graphically yours

Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to rule us, someone like you

We want you Big Brother, Big Brother

I know you think you're awful square
But you made everyone and you've been every where
Lord, I think you'd overdose if you knew what's going down

Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to rule us, someone like you
Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to rule, someone like you
Someone to claim us, someone to follow
Someone to shame us, some brave Apollo
Someone to rule, someone like you

We want you Big Brother

Diamond Dogs - Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:46 pm

"Diamond Dogs" is a 1974 single by David Bowie, and the title track of the album of the same name.

The lyric introduces the listener to Bowies latest persona and his environment; Halloween Jack dwells on top of tenement buildings in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. The guitar sound is heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones, and signalled Bowie moving away from glam rock and closer to a proto-punk Stooges-influenced sound.

The track was considered by many commentators to be an unconventional single, and only reached UK #21. According to NME critics Roy Carr and Charles Shaar Murray, "As a potential hit single, the title track from Diamond Dogs was something of a non-event. Too long, too bleak in vision, too tough to dance to... you know the drill."

While it failed to make the US charts, the song became a central part of Bowies North American tour in 1974.

The B-side was a version of Bowies 1971 single "Holy Holy", re-recorded during the Ziggy Stardust sessions the same year.

This ain't rock'n'roll. This is genocide!

As they pulled you out of the oxygen tent
You asked for the latest party
With your silicone hump and your ten inch stump
Dressed like a priest you was
Tod Browning's freak you was

Crawling down the alley on your hands and knee
I'm sure you're not protected, for it's plain to see
The diamond dogs are poachers and they hide behind trees
Hunt you to the ground they will, mannequins with kill appeal

(Will they come?)
I'll keep a friend serene
(Will they come?)
Oh baby, come unto me
(Will they come?)
Well, she's come, been and gone.
Come out of the garden, baby
You'll catch your death in the fog
Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs
Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs

The Halloween Jack is a real cool cat
And he lives on top of Manhattan Chase
The elevator's broke, so he slides down a rope
Onto the street below, oh Tarzie, go man go

Meet his little hussy with his ghost town approach
Her face is sans feature, but she wears a Dali brooch
Sweetly reminiscent, something mother used to bake
Wrecked up and paralyzed, Diamond Dogs are sableized

(Will they come?)
I'll keep a friend serene
(Will they come?)
Oh baby, come unto me
(Will they come?)
Well, she's come, been and gone.
Come out of the garden, baby
You'll catch your death in the fog
Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs
Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs

Oo-oo-ooh, call them the Diamond Dogs
Oo-oo-ooh, call them the Diamond Dogs

In the year of the scavenger, the season of the bitch
Sashay on the boardwalk, scurry to the ditch
Just another future song, lonely little kitsch
(There's gonna be sorrow) try and wake up tomorrow

(Will they come?)
I'll keep a friend serene
(Will they come?)
Oh baby, come unto me
(Will they come?)
Well, she's come, been and gone.
Come out of the garden, baby
You'll catch your death in the fog
Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs
Young girl, they call them the Diamond Dogs

Oo-oo-ooh, call them the Diamond Dogs
Oo-oo-ooh, call them the Diamond Dogs

Bow-wow, woof woof, bow-wow, wow
Call them the Diamond Dogs
Dogs
Call them the Diamond Dogs, call them, call them
Call them the Diamond Dogs, call them, call them, ooo
Call them the Diamond Dogs

Keep cool
Diamond Dogs rule, OK
Hey-hey-hey-hey

(Beware of the Diamond Dogs)
(Beware of the Diamond Dogs)
(Beware of the Diamond Dogs)
(Beware of the Diamond Dogs)
(Beware of the Diamond Dogs)

Oh You Pretty Things - Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:56 pm

Wake up you sleepy head
Put on some clothes, shake up your bed
Put another log on the fire for me
I've made some breakfast and coffee
I look out my window what do I see
A crack in the sky and a hand reaching down to me
All the nightmares came today
And it looks as though they're here to stay

What are we coming to
No room for me, no fun for you
I think about a world to come
Where the books were found by the Golden ones
Written in pain, written in awe
By a puzzled man who questioned
What we came here for
All the strangers came today
And it looks as though they're here to stay

Oh You Pretty Things (Oh You Pretty Things)
Don't you know you're driving your
Mamas and Papas insane
Oh You Pretty Things (Oh You Pretty Things)
Don't you know you're driving your
Mamas and Papas insane
Let me make it plain
You gotta make way for the Homo Superior

Look at your children
See their faces in golden rays
Don't kid yourself they belong to you
They're the start of a coming race
The earth is a bitch
We've finished our news
Homo Sapiens have outgrown their use
All the strangers came today
And it looks as though they're here to stay

Oh You Pretty Things (Oh You Pretty Things)
Don't you know you're driving your
Mamas and Papas insane
Oh You Pretty Things (Oh You Pretty Things)
Don't you know you're driving your
Mamas and Papas insane
Let me make it plain
You gotta make way for the Homo Superior

Queen Bitch - David Bowie

Post  Billy Ruben on Mon Oct 10, 2011 1:16 pm

Now to finish with the Bowie Series, with his all time heaviest influences,The Velvet Underground and The Warhol crowd, with "The Factory" scene.

Duh pu thu ku kun ba pa ta da da
Ah yeah
Oh yeah
I'm up on the eleventh floor
And I'm watching the cruisers below
He's down on the street
And he's try hard to pull sister Flo
Oh, my heart's in the basement
My weekend's at an all time low
'Cause she's hoping to score
So I can't see her letting him go
Walk out of her heart
Walk out of her mind
Oh not her

She's so swishy in her satin and tat
In her frock coat and bipperty-bopperty hat
Oh God, I could do better than that
oh yeah

She's an old-time ambassador
Of sweet talking, night walking games
And she's known in the darkest clubs
For pushing ahead of the dames
If she says she can do it
Then she can't do it, she don't make false claims
But she's a Queen, and such a queen
Such a laughter is sucked in their brains
Now she's leading him on
And she'll lay him right down
Yes she's leading him on
And she'll lay him right down
But it could have been me
Yes, it could have been me
Why didn't I say, why didn't I say, no, no, no

She's so swishy in her satin and tat
In her frock coat and bipperty-bopperty hat
Oh God, I could do better than that

So I lay down a while
And I gaze at my hotel wall
Oh the cot is so cold
It don't feel like no bed at all
Yeah I lay down a while
And I look at my hotel wall
And he's down on the street
So I throw both his bags down the hall
And I'm phoning a cab
'Cause my stomach feels small
There's a taste in my mouth
And it's no taste at all
It could have been me
Oh yeah, it could have been me
Why didn't I say, Why didn't I say, no, no, no

She's so swishy in her satin and tat
In her frock coat and bipperty-bopperty hat
Oh God, I could do better than that
Oh
You Betcha
Oh yeah
Uh hu
Mmm

The Electric Eels - Cyclotron (Giganto)

Post  Billy Ruben on Tue Oct 11, 2011 7:02 am

Sometimes, when I went Yowie hunting, stuck out in the middle of nowhere,I'd play the most hideous, noisey tunes i could find, usually,an Electric Eel track,I love it of course, but not the wildlife,so sometimes,I really just wanted to get away and be alone and scare Mr Yowie off, but, had he come up shaking his hips like I was,I'd share a bong and a laugh, plus some fruit I had stored up,just in case we met...

Lyrics to Cyclotron :

Giant doors

Hiding in a dresser and pursuing my success,

Hide with the roar

Shaving with two razors will help make quite a mess,

T.V. set

Watch yourself on video, see me on the big beat show

Daffy Duck

You know a steaming bowl of washers

On a nice hot day like this would be a nice suprise

Sewing set

Little baby tie up and I'm through for one day,

War is fun

Going down the turnpike and I laugh at the jets,

Benny boy

Falling on a liquorice, dancing on a cyclotron

Your mouth is a vast wasteland

You're a little baby bore

Candygram

Standing on a corner with a flashlight in her hand,

I hate girls

Climb into the canister and warn me in the morning,

Pasty faces

Amyl nitrate on your brow

Barbie Doll

Kelvinator, Kelvinator, Kelvinator,

Your mouth is a vast wasteland

Baby burp gets on your dress
